MSD Preschool Program Goals

Rigorous learning for each student & measurable academic growth within any learning modality (face-to-face, hybrid, virtual) throughout the entire year. 

Focus: LLC Preschool and the Morris Preschool Program will focus on increasing the quality of math instruction in all preschool classrooms. 

Goal: By June 2021, there will be an increase in ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale) Math Items 23, 24 and 25 

This goal will be achieved through continuous professional development and teacher coaching that includes modeling, constructive feedback and follow up. Supports and resources provided will target growth in the following math components:

• Number and operations

• Geometry and spatial sense

• Measurement

• Patterns

• Data analysis.

Focus: LLC Preschool and the Morris Preschool Program will focus on building equity and inclusive learning opportunities for students and staff.  

Rationale:  Providing students with equitable, culturally responsive learning is fundamental to ensuring ALL students can reach their fullest potential. 

Goal: By June 2021, all preschool staff will strengthen their knowledge of practices that promote cultural responsiveness, equity and inclusion for all.  

This goal will be achieved through ongoing professional development, teacher coaching and opportunities for reflection and discussion. 

Focus:  LLC Preschool and the Morris School District Preschool Program will focus on promoting Social Emotional learning and development in all preschool classrooms. 

Rationale:  Research demonstrates that social emotional learning is  essential in helping preschoolers build a foundation for success.

Goal:  By June 2021 all preschool students will meet widely held expectations for social emotional development as per our curricular assessment tool.

 This goal will be achieved through  professional development and coaching on practices from the Pyramid Model for Promoting Social Emotional Competencies in Young Children.
